Food Pantry
The Mission operates a client choice Food Pantry each Wednesday for income eligible individuals and families. Pantry hours are 9:30-11:45a.m. and 1:00-2:00p.m. We also run the pantry the first Saturday of the month, from 1:30-3:30. The Mission is part of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and the Stark County Hunger Task Force. Food is also recieved from churches, groups, individuals and organizations. Food donations are always welcome.
The CCM Food Pantry served 7,308 Families in 2010. This included 24,216 people.
Many churches are part of a monthly rotating donation list which helps to keep specific items on the shelves. Staples such as peanut butter, tuna, canned vegetables and fruit, soup, and macaroni and cheese are a few of the these. We have a church that regularly provides hamburger and venison for our clients. What a blessing they are!
Donations of non-food items are welcome also. Personal care items, toilet paper and cleaning products cannot be obtained with food stamps, so these are a welcome commodity for our clients.
Volunteers play a big role in our Food Pantry. They pick up food at the Foodbank, stock shelves, register clients and help with shopping and distribution. Volunteer opportunities can be found on this website. We are always happy to welcome new volunteers!
