Youth Programs
In order to make the greatest impact in the community, Canton Calvary Mission realizes that the most important responsibility it has is to break the cycle of poverty in the neighborhood, and this is done by educating its youth.
Current youth programs include:
After school tutoring
Calvary Arts Program (CAPS)
Calvary Learning and Arts for Youth (CLAY)
Gibbs 21st Century after school program
Gibbs Area Middle school Enrichment progam (GAME)
The Mission understands that impacting a child's life is made more difficult when thier immediate needs are not met. Thanks to the support and caring of churches, groups and individuals, our children are the recipients of needed items throughout the year such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, underwear, school supplies, coats, boots, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves and books.
Canton Calvary Mission also tries to make Christmas a special time for each child by setting up Santa's Shop where children can shop for free gifts for their families. We hope that it instills in them a spirit of giving that continues with them throughout thier lives. This program is successful because of the generosity of those who donate items and give of their time to help with shopping and wrapping.
Volunteers are an important part of all youth programs at the Mission. Volunteers allow us to serve children free of charge. If you are interested in making an impact in the life of a child, please call the Mission at 330-454-8610.
Volunteers are love in motion. -unknown
